Takae Ito is born in Meguro, Tokyo.
Her philosophical anchor is the firsthand exposure to what “Tokyo” emits- [perspective of nature] [ingenuity] and [commercial sensitivity]
– and spends days inspired by encounters to different life-style/cultures as she travels outbound Tokyo (both domestically and aboard.)
Takae took art, Japanese flower arrangement, and Japanese tea ceremony lessons in her early childhood, and with intent to pursue scenic art,
she entered Musashino University of Art, Department of Scenography, Display and Fashion Design where her interest shifted to hotel planning
; senior design thesis “Hotel” achieved Award for Most Excellence.

From 1993, she worked at KKS International Co. Ltd under the guidance of Mr. Yozo Shibata to learn the basics of hotel planning.
Mr. Shibata’s word is kept close to Takae’s heart: “Hotel is a living creature”.
She then joins Super Potato Co. Ltd. for 9 years from 1995 to study under Mr. Takashi Sugimoto. As senior designer,
Takae enjoys on-and-off-work deep discussions with Mr. Sugimoto, not limited to design but on ideology.

“Salt International” was founded in May, 2005 as her very own design office.
She puts unwavering efforts to developing spacial design that richly triggers the senses
and energy– ambience, uplifting, wonderment – of guests who visit.
Each project is a special, one-and-only customization through close communication with clients.
Her days are spent pursuing accurately designed space that unlocks one’s heart in hopes to achieve it.
Takae and her team extracts the essence of materials, utilizing all knowledge,
craftsmanship and senses they have to satisfy Client’s request in creating “energetically beautiful” space which has established her reputation.
This act of creating may be a challenge to [embodying expressions of nature] such as its delicate gleams and shimmers.

This office is a modest atelier. However, it diligently and sincerely engages themselves in Client’s requests no matter the kind of project
-from hotel restaurant, bar, and guestroom design to residence, building façade, and products, etc.-,
to continue showcasing fundamentally genuine and powerfully attractive design.
